Neem



Neem is derived from the Sanskrit Nimba which means to bestow health which signifies the great therapeutic value of this plant. All parts of neem plant have medicinal properties and used extremely in Indian traditional system of medicine. 


What is Neem?

    Neem is a tree. The bark, leaves, and seed are used to make medicine. Less frequently, the root, flower, and fruit are also used.

 



Neem leaves uses 

    Neem leaves are widely used to cure a number of human and animal diseases. The physio-chemical properties of neem leaves help to maintain the overall well being. Leaves are also used to manufacture a number of drugs and medicines. They have been traditional used to give bath to patients suffering from chicken pox.


 Neem oil is endowed with many medicinal properties and there are many neem oil based traditional preparations used for pesticides, fungicides and also for treating many human diseases.





Herbal Remedies: what are the Health benefits of neem leaves and oil?


1. Neem leaf has antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it effective in treating dandruff.

2. It also relieved dryness and itching, strength hair and promotes hair growth. Traditional, neem paste has been used to condition the hair and scalp. It's also soothes irritation, preventing dryness and flaking.

3. Neem is mentioned in most Ayurvedic formulations for the treatment of skin disorder beacuse of its detoxifying properties.

4 Neem oil and neem leaves are excellent skincare ingredients. The oil relieves dry skin and soothes itching, redness, and irritation.

5. It is also a gastro protective element and effective in healing ulcers.

6. It also improves general skin health and immunity, combating bacterial infection such as acne, boil, ulcers.

 

 



Pest Management

    Neem seeds and leaves contain many compounds which are useful for pest control. Unlike chemical insecticides, neem compounds work on the insect's harmonal system, not on the digestive or development of resistance in future generations. Theses compounds belongs to a general class of natural products called 'limonoids'.


Fertilizer Uses

     India farmers have traditional used deoiled neem cakes as fertilizer in their fields. The daul activity of neem cake as fertilizer and pest repellent, has made it a favoured input. Neem leaves have also been used to enrich the soil. Together, they are widely used in India to fertilize cash crops. When neem cake is ploughed into the soil it also protects plant roots from nematodes and white ants. 


Neem Tree components.

   Neem has a large number of medicinals, cosmetics, toiletries and pharmaceutical are now based on neem derivatives because of it's unique properties.

Bark: Neem bark is cool, bitter, astringent, acrid and refrigerator. It is useful in tiredness, cough, fever, loss of appetite, worm infection. It's heals the wounds and is also used in vomiting, skin disease and excessive thirst.


Leaves: neem leaves help in the treatment of vatik disorders ( neuro muscular pain). Neem leaves are also reported to remove toxic, purify blood and prevent damage caused by free radical in the body by neutralising them. Neem leaves are reported to be beneficial in eye disorders and insect bite poisons.


Fruits: Neem fruit are bitter, purgative, antihemorrhodial and anthelmintic in nature.


Seeds:  Neem seeds are also described as anthelmintic, antileprotic, anti poisonous and bitter in taste.


Oil: Neem oil derived from crushing the seeds is antidermatonic, a powerful anthelmintic and is bitter in taste. It has a wide spectrum of action and is highly medicinal in nature.


Flowers: Neem flower are used in vitiated conditions of pitta and kapha. They are astringent, anthelmintic and non-toxic.
